Maia Bean is a native Houstonian by way of Arlington, TX. She graduated from the University of Houston in 2003 with her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Minor in English.

Quickly after graduation she became an elementary school teacher. As a teacher she began noticing the difficulties that young children today face and then decided to pursue her Master’s in Counseling. She graduated from Prairie View A&M University with her Master’s in Counseling in 2008. Maia is also a member of CROSS praise dance ministry at The Fountain of Praise, the University of Houston Black Alumni Association, and a new volunteer for Get Up and Go Girls.

Maia was blessed with the vision of Modify in 2009. She has worked hard to create community service projects that are meaningful and festive. Maia’s goal is to spread the love of giving across the world. She hopes that the efforts of this organization ignite a fire in all of us to serve our community.
